Evaluation Q2

How successfully have you constructed a band identify?

To promote the release of a new album for the band Maine River. I have created a music video, of there newest song weight of the world. With this I also made a campaign including a digipack and website to help promote the bands album release.

When creating the video I concentrated on the Genre stereotypes and found out what would be appropriate for my Genre of music which is rock. The genre conventions I discovered was that the majority of rock videos are mostly narrative I followed this heavily as My music video is 80% performance. Another genre characteristic is that the band are all playing instruments and that are all males as well. When dressing my actors I believe I made appropriate decisions in the costumes having the band all in dark coloured jeans, white t-shirts and coats. the only thing dividing them is the fact that they are all in different styles of coats other than this you can tell that they are a band. I believe they way that I dressed the band appeals to the bands target audience (14-22) as they are not in to many big brands and like to wear quite simple clothes and alot of denim, thats why i have put the front man in a denim jacket as he is the member of the band that all off the teenage audience aspire to be.

The way I made the the editing appeal to the audience is by having it quite shaky to show the rebellious side of the band this would appeal as teenagers are considered rebellious. I have used my music video as a basis for  my website and digipack. The way I have used the music video for the basest is by following the same colour skeem through out of, Red, Blue, Black and white as these are the 4 most prominence colours in the music video. That is how i have managed to linl the 3 together. With the digipack have followed the colour skeem, I have also used the same font between the digi pack and websites is a font that i downloaded from Dafonts.
